Victor Wembanyama’s ‘Go Go Gadget Arms’ dunk shouldn’t be possible

Victor Wembanyama is still only 20 years old in his second NBA season, but the San Antonio Spurs big man is doing things the league has never seen before on a nightly basis. After his fantastic Christmas debut at Madison Square Garden, Wembanyama is suddenly building a strong All-NBA case and will be one of the front-runners to win Defensive Player of the Year.

Wembanyama and the Spurs took on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night. With the Spurs trailing by four with under one minute left in regulation, Wembanyama got the ball in the post, spun left, and dunked with his outstretched arm over multiple Minnesota defenders.

Only someone standing 7’5 with an 8-foot wingspan like Wembanyama could pull this off. What a ridiculous move. Watch the play here:

Here’s a zoomed in, slow-mo angle:

This is why some analysts get so frustrated that Wembanyama shoots so many threes. He’s taking 9.5 three-point attempts per game this season, while hitting 35.9 percent. Wemby is a good shooter, but he’s totally unstoppable near the rim.

The Wolves beat the Spurs, 112-110. Wembanyama finished with 34 points in the loss. Donte DiVincenzo was the big star for Minnesota, scoring a team-high 26 points off the bench by hitting 5-of-10 three-pointers.

The Spurs drop to .500 — 16-16 — with the loss. The Wemby revolution continues as scheduled.
