Rutgers fooled everyone with their fake ‘Tush Push’ in the Rate Bowl

Rutgers pulled off one of the best trick plays we’ve seen this year, and it was so effortlessly simply. Preying on the explosion of the ‘Tush Push’ throughout football, the Scarlet Knights made Kansas State completely fall for a fake — only to haplessly watch as running back Antwan Raymond scored.

This play was so simple. If you watch at the snap the ball goes to QB Athan Kaliakmanis, who then pushes forward while giving a no-look handoff behind him. This is obviously something Rutgers had practiced a lot, and brought it out at the best possible time. The fake was so good there were no defenders in the same zip code as Raymond, who had the easiest run into the end zone imaginable.

Unfortunately for Rutgers it was all downhill from here. Despite taking a 41-29 lead in the fourth quarter, Kansas State stormed back to score 15 points to close the game, and ultimately win 44-41.

Still, this fake play was great — and we’re probably going to see it more moving forward as long as the Tush Push continues to be a go-to play.
