Welcome back to Cover Awe!

Don't let the Forest In by CG Drews. An illustration of a person from the chest up. They have blonde, short wavy hair. They are wearing a tan jacket with white shirt and matching tan tie. Scratch marks cover their faces, as if someone slashed a canvas and vines are crawling out from the slashes. A bloody stain is on their collar and floating hands outlined in chalk are reaching out toward the edges of the cover.

Cover design by Meg Sayre

Amanda: So many great details like the blood on the collar and the phantom hand.

Sarah: I love how the illustration looks sort of like a daguerreotype. I’m sure there are whole rooms on Pinterest that use this color palette.

Sneezy: I love that the visuals of the briars bursting out of the painting feels like it’s sort of playing with the title.

Holding Out for a Gyro by Mary Ann Marlowe. An illustrated cover in the color palette of the Greek flag - lots of blues and whites. In the background is a blue sky and what looks to be Santorini with white buildings and winding walls near the water. Two very attractive brunettes (a man and a woman) face each other. The man has his arms folded and is wearing dark jeans and a blue gray short sleeve tee shirt. The woman has long wavy brown hair and is wearing brown pants, a white shirt, and a blue blazer. Lemons and leaves line the bottom of the cover.

Amanda: I love everything about this.

Kiki: May I say, respectfully, that those are two very hot illustrated people

And amazing title. I’m so fucking delighted by the title!

Amanda: Respectfully.

Sarah: Illustrated hot people AND a pun? Perfect. 10/10. No notes.

Sneezy: That’s how you get me. Hot people and gyro.

Beholder by Ryan La Sala. A very white cover with an eye at the center. The iris is swirled with green, gold, and peach. The colors bleed out at the bottom and make up the title in this wavy, trippy pattern. A chrome spider sits over the eye, with its legs curling around the edges.

Amanda: Creepy and trippy. Reminds me of a 70s era cult.

Sarah: This is terrific. It reminds me of the Pony Lawson tattoos (some are NSFW) that look like chrome.

Sneezy: I hate spiders, but every now and then I mumblemit they’re sort of cool looking. This might be one of those times. Maybe.

Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle. The title takes up most of the cover in big block letters. Whin the letters, there's an image of a beach scene with palm trees. The blueish purple sky blends into the orange horizon with the top of the trees and blends back into a bluish purple sea. A giant bloody sledgehammer bisects the cover and title diagonally.

Cover design by Katie Klimowicz

Tara: The colours are really working for me.

Elyse: Ohhhhhhh

Sneezy: I love the bloody hammer and the way that it interacts with the text.

Sarah: Incredible. The art department smashed it with this one.

Sneezy: WOW! The colours and textures give it so much ENERGY! Hats off to the designer!
