Tesla Issues Sixth Recall Of Cybertruck This Year

Electric vehicle maker Tesla (TSLA) has issued its sixth recall this year for its Cybertruck, this time due to a loss of drive power that could increase the risk of a crash.

Tesla said that it is recalling 2,431 Cybertrucks in the U.S. due to a problem with the electric pick-up trucks drive power.

In October, Tesla recalled more than 27,000 Cybertrucks in the U.S. due to delayed rear-view camera images that could impair visibility and lead to crashes.

Now, the company led by Elon Musk says there is a problem with the drive inverter in Cybertrucks manufactured between Nov. 6, 2023 and July 30, 2024.

That problem can cause the part to stop producing torque when the driver uses the accelerator pedal, resulting in a loss of propulsion and increasing the risk of a crash.

In a statement, Tesla said that it will replace the recalled drive inverter with one equipped with a functioning component at no extra cost.

After multi-year delays, Tesla began delivering its futuristic looking Cybertruck in 2023.

The company has not disclosed specific production or delivery numbers for its newest electric vehicle model.

However, Musk has said that the hope is for the Cybertruck to revitalize the company’s aging line-up of electric vehicles.

The stock of Tesla has increased 32% so far in 2024 and currently trades at $328.49 U.S. per share.
